    South Africa:Exceptional’ 232-carat white diamond found


    JOHANNESBURG: A 232-carat white diamond value as much as $20 million has been discovered at a South African mine famous for its big-gem finds, owners aforementioned on Tuesday.

    Petra Diamonds aforementioned the “exceptional” jewel was found at Cullinan, east of national capital, that has equipped stones for Britain’s crown jewels and where the world’s largest diamond was unearthed more than a century agone.

    “The stone is... of remarkable size and clarity, and is a glorious example of the massive, high quality diamonds that the mine is thought,” Petra Diamonds aforementioned in a statement.

    In 1905, the world’s biggest diamond — the 3,106-carat “Cullinan” — was discovered there, and later take two items to be enclosed in the Crown jewels.

    The last white diamond sold-out by the corporate was a 507.3 carat that went for $35.3m in 2010, the highest price ever paid for a rough diamond, spokesperson Cathy Malins aforementioned.

    Malins aforementioned analysts had forecast that the recently found “rare and distinctive “gem, which will be auctioned before the tip of this year, could sell for any price between $10m and $20 million.
